Food and beverages were also greatly influenced by the American occupation in the Philippines. One huge food invention that the United States brought to the homeland was canned food. Before the Philippine- American War, canned food was not popular and most soldiers had to eat from tin cans or foils. The tin cans helped preserve the food with more success and was definitely a benefit in the pocket book of the Filipino people. Another big thing that the U.S. brought over with them was various unhealthy food. The most popular unhealthy food that they brought over was the hot dog and it is cooked in various ways. They also brought pizza, burgers and fried chicken. Another big dish they brought over was steak and one dish was Beef-Steak.
